RSC Anderlecht, arguably Belgium’s most famous club, have released their 2016/17 home kit. It will debut in today’s match against KV Oostende at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium. Currently second in the Pro League championship play-off, Anderlecht will be looking for three points ahead of next weekend’s trip to play-off leaders, Club Brugge.

Whilst the club’s traditional colour of purple remains, kit manufacturer Adidas have replaced this season’s hoops with chevrons as the eye-catching part of the design.

Whilst most English club kits – Chelsea for example –  made by the German company have the three stripes from the underarm to the hem, the Belgians have gone with the gradient chevron design also being favoured by Ipswich Town.

With a cleanly designed back providing a contrast, Anderlecht have taken simplicity as a key feature of their new shirts. Purple shorts and white socks complete an elegant look.

Silvio Proto meanwhile, is modelling a return to a straightforward green goalkeeper kit following on from this season’s yellow number. The 32 year-old stopper has opted for the short sleeve version of the shirt for the launch.

The return to basics approach is sure to prove popular with the club’s supporters, especially if they claim what seemed an unlikely title win before the play-offs.
