30 years of Philips for PSV Eindhoven but everything has to end sometime and this is exactly what is happening with this shirt sponsorship deal currently worth €5-€7million per annum.

Philips has been branded across the red and white stripes of the Dutch based football club for 30 years now but it is going to end mid-2016, which is when the contract ends. It will not be renewed. Philips has said that this is in the company’s best interests to have a change of face as they transfer from consumer electronics to medical equipment. The company has also said it wants to remain in partnership with Philips but has not released how and what, no concrete agreement between the two has been concluded yet.

The club, Philips Sport Vereniging was founded in 1913 and was for employees of Philips. The club has recently won their first Eridivisie title since 2008.

PSV have had many great kits over the years and Philips has been part of them all. This year’s kit was sublime, produced by Nike and the sponsorship design completed it. The Philips sponsorship goes hand in hand with PSV’s kit but not anymore (as of mid-2016 that is).
