Feyenoord 2016/17 Home Kit Released

Feyenoord of the Dutch Eredivisie have launched their 2016/17 home kit. It’s been a difficult week for the Rotterdam club with new Everton boss, Ronald Koeman, poaching goalkeeping coach, Patrick Lodewijks.

Lodewijks joined Feyenoord in 2002 as goalkeeper and on retiring as a player, became a member of the technical staff.

One thing which staying the same is kit manufacturer. Adidas remain in situ for the third season and have already released next season’s change strip.

The familiar red and white halves return, with the club having worn similarly coloured tops since it’s formation in 1908 as Wilhemina.

There has been an overhaul of the design, with a more retro look than last year. Adidas simplified the shirt’s look, losing the red winged collar, replacing it with a black curved v-neck. The red and white halves are distinct this time around, not joined by shoulder panels as for the previous template.

Adidas has put their own Three Stripes down the side of the shirt’s body, in black, running from the underarm to bottom hemline. The sleeve cuffs are also in black.

The black shorts have a red hemline on each thigh with the Adidas stripes in white, down the side of each leg. The black socks have three white stripes at the top, above a red band.

The kit is very much keeping in with the club’s traditions, a retro look with a modern feel. Perhaps it can bring about a change in the club’s fortunes as they seek to build on last season’s KNVB cup success by winning their first Eredivisie title of the 21st Century.
