But new owners, after a shaky takeover, and a new manager in Roberto di Matteo, means a new start.
And for a new start, you need a new kit and these are the images of the Aston Villa home and away kits for the 2016/17 season.
Aston Villa 2016/17 Home Kit
This is the poster promoting the Aston Villa home kit.
A traditional Aston Villa kit design, the shirt is claret and blue in a clean pattern.
Primary sponsor, intuit QuickBooks, has their logo in white on the chest of an otherwise clean shirt. The winged collar and sleeves are in sky blue with the body of the shirt, claret. The newly designed club crest appears on the left breast, opposite the logo of kit manufacturer, Under Armour.
It’s expected that the shorts will be white.

Predominantly white, Under Armour has an unusual design incorporating the home kit’s claret and blue colours.
The chest panel housing manufacturer logo and the chest panel is sky blue. The collar is claret around the side and back of the neck, finishing in a white v-shape with filled blue panel, at the front.
It’s a Star Wars moment for the Villa fans: a new hope. A swift return to the Premier League is their ambition as the club’s new Chinese owners seek to head off the rebellion!
