Aston Villa Launch 2016/17 Kits
Championship club, Aston Villa, had a familiar feeling earlier in the week. In keeping with their leaky defence last season, pictures of the posters promoting their home and away kits from Under Armour leaked onto the web. New owner Dr Tony Jiantong Xia is banking on the players doing the promoting in his first season in charge.
Freshening up the management was his first priority and he succeeded in doing that with the appointment of Robert di Matteo. Now Under Armour have taken the traditional Aston Villa colours and given them a quick spruce up.
Aston Villa 2016/17 Home Kit
This is the Aston Villa home kit to be worn for the 2016/17 season.
For their debut kit, Under Armour presents a straightforward claret and blue shirt. The polo style collar is sky blue, with the top claret-coloured button set against the same blue background. The remaining buttons are set in the main body of the shirt, also in claret.
The sleeves are sky blue but beyond logos and the club crest, the shirt is devoid of tonal patterns.
On the inside of the back of the collar, the motif, “Passion – Pride – Purpose”, is printed. The Holte End will be hoping those are foremost in the players minds; they were certainly noticeable by the absence on the pitch last season.
The shorts will be white whilst the socks will be sky blue with a thick sky blue band on the turnover.
Aston Villa 2016/17 Away Kit
This is the away kit Aston Villa will wear for the 2016/17 season.
The base colour of the shirt is white. The chest and shoulders are sky blue with a thick claret band across the lower chest. The collar is sky blue around the back and sides, before meeting a white v-neck. There is a solid sky blue panel within the v.
The shorts are sky blue. At the bottom of each leg is a narrow claret band whilst the socks are white with a claret turnover and a sky blue hoop lower down the leg.
As kit debuts go, Under Armour have come up with a solid pair with the right hint of the club’s past. Whilst these strips will help, it’s the performances on the pitch will instill pride on the terraces once more.
