A nice piece and a view that is long over due. You are quite correct about majestic Milan. They should not be underestimated despite their age. I love what you said about the beautiful Pirlo. And yes, when you look at the manner in which they dispatched United you get an appreciation for what footballing quality and technique really means. Personally I like pace in a team and I am currently a big admirer of Arsenal but sometimes these days we get too caught up in the hype of the Premiership and our minds get clouded by "exciting" football. For me the only issue with Milan is not that their age and lack of pace makes them a bad team but I do think they could help themselves more by adding youth and pace while not sacrificing wisdom or quality.

In your comments about US Virgin Islands, you describe them as being one of the most competent in the lower rungs of the ranking. This is unfortunately not at all true. After winning their first ever game 1-0 against the British Virgin Islands, they have proceeded to lose every game since, with the exception of 3 drawn games (against Bahamas, Turks & Caicos Islands and non-FIFA team Saint-Martin). They have never beaten BVI 3-0, like you have mentioned. If you check the FIFA match list, this is confirmed. They do not regularly beat CONCACAF competition - this is completely untrue. One victory in all time hardly constitutes regularity.

On another note, in the Montserrat section - you describe CONCACAF as FIFA's weakest confedration. I believe that the OFC is much weaker than CONCACAF. Their best side is New Zealand, and they hardly compare favourably with the top sides of CONCACAF.

If it is true that the signings were made by Comoli then I feel very sorry for the man. He took the blame for the signings, particularly Darren Bent, and has now lost his job. He was a good manager and I hope it won't be long until he is back in the game. At least he left still with upmost respect from the fans.

Very interesting that he was at the Southend V Carlisle game.
