PSV Eindhoven Launch 2016-17 Kits

PSV Eindhoven have launched their 2016-17 home and away kits in readiness for the new domestic and European campaigns.

If English supporters were baffled by Leicester City winning the Premier League, Dutch supporters are scratching their heads as to how PSV were crowned champions  last season. With just over thirty minutes of the season remaining, Ajax were on course to get the three points they needed to take PSV’s crown. Then Brian Smeets equalised for De Graafschap and with Ajax unable to find the winner, PSV were handed the title.

The shirt is in the club’s traditional red and white stripes on the front with a solid red back. The round neck collar is white with black piping across the shoulders. On the inside of the neckline, the co-ordinates of the centre sport of the Phillips Stadion.

Umbro, kit manufacturer for the second consecutive season, has placed a thick band at the bottom of the shirt body to give a cumberbund effect.

The sleeve cuffs are equally spaced red and white blocks at the bottom of the all-red sleeves.

But the kit is momentous. Formed in 1913 as the factory football team by Phillips, this will be the first season where the company will not be the club’s primary shirt sponsor. That ‘honour’ falls to energiedirect.nl.

The shorts will be black with red and white trim whilst the socks are white with a red stripe.

The kit is predominantly dark navy blue. The trim is sky blue forming a blocks around the shirt cuff and the front half of the round collar. The back is dark navy blue. Across the chest, there is a broad sky blue band.

The shorts and socks will both be dark navy blue.

A historic season for PSV, ushering in a new era. There’s no better way than new kits and Umbro have created two striking strips for next season.
