The Bolton Wanderers have a unique name history. They made their humble beginnings in Christ Church, England when, in 1874 their founder, Thomas Ogden, decided to gather support for a football team. The fledling Wanderers had no home field, so they "wandered" to a nearby hotel grounds for their early games. The team has carried the name ever since.
