Tigres away 2005

The Tigres of the University of Nuevo León began play in the 1958/59 season tournament. Their first two seasons were harsh for the felines, as they were close to dropping to Third Division; however, starting with their 1969/70 season, with the presence of Roberto Méndez Cáceres, they reached their golden age, which brought them to the Maximum Circuit. The 71/72 season, under the leadership of the Peruvian, Grimaldo Gónzalez, Tigres qualified for their first Liguilla title. With only a year in the Maximum Circuit, Tigres obtained the Cup Championship of the 75/76 season, giving the city of Monterrey the first great title in its history. During the 1981/82 season and once again led by Carlos Miloc, they defeated the Potros de Hierro of Atlante on penalties, taking the second League title in their history. Well into the nineties, Tigres won their second Cup Championship in 1996, defeating the Zorros of Atlas in the global 2 – 1.
