New Football Kits

Edinburgh City Release Their 2018/19 Kit by Joma

Ask anyone south of the Scottish boarder and they’ll tell you that there are two teams in Edinburgh. They’ll name the mighty Hibernian who play at Easter Road, and, for the sake of fairness, they’ll also mention Heart of Midlothian who managed to finish in sixth place. Behind Kilmarnock. These same people might have never heard of Edinburgh City, a team playing in Scotland’s fourth tier of football. Whatever their reasoning, this is your opportunity to educate them.

The club have a simple, well-designed crest and they’re nicknamed “The Citizens”. While the club might only be part-time professional, their latest home kit is beautiful. Straight-forward and surely worthy of the highest heights of football. Although that’s not how league work. If it was, Ipswich Town would be relegated this up-coming season. This author really hopes that won’t be the case.

The kit itself is white. Simple enough. If white kits have the right amount of simple detail, it can be really effective. Edinburgh City’s city is the perfect design balance between simple and stunning. Thin grey lines run vertically down the front of the jersey, this lends some height and emphasises the effective nature of the black detailing.

The only colour present on the jersey is the yellow inside the club’s crest. This small amount of colour makes sure that it isn’t lost in a sea of clashes. While the club have opted for a large sponsor: CMC Property, the yellow in the crest makes sure that all attention is given to the small circle, containing the club’s establishment date: 1928.

Personally I’d not come across the club too much. More so than the EPL, Scottish football seems to be solely dominated by the top two tiers of teams. This kit has pushed the club well into my sight and I look forward to seeing how their 2018/19 season goes.
