Oxford United Reveal Their 2018/19 Home Kit by Puma

Oxford United play under the watchful eye of their manager – Karl Robinson and they’ve just released their 2018/19 home kit. Its bright colouring, together with its smart design make it an incredibly attractive kit. But it is the sponsor that really stands out to us here at UK Soccer Shop. How often have we seen gorgeous kits ruined by garish, unflattering sponsors plastered across the chest? (*cough* Ipswich Town FC) Singha beer has an excellent logo which simply gives the kit top more artistic depth.

The kit top is simple but bold, the perfect combination.

This 2018/19 home kit is the first of the club’s to be designed by Puma. The 2016/17 top had thin lines running vertically down the front. While these lines were great, important elements like the club’s crest and the sponsor’s name got lost in the pattern. This, it could be argued, detracted from the overall design, something that Puma will have been aware of when creating this kit.

The club was established in 1893. The year was memorable for many reasons: the first open heart surgery without anaesthesia was completed, Japan adopted the Georgian calendar, and actually we’ve realised these aren’t particularly memorable. But to reflect the club’s lengthy heritage, Puma have incorporated a classic, polo-necked collar. Sometimes a collar like this can seem a little forced, however here, on a refreshingly simple canvas, it does seem to work incredibly well.

The kit top has gained largely positive feedback from fans and it’s easy to see why. The colouring is simple, it’s uncluttered, and the design decisions on smaller things like the collar or non-tapering of the sleeves has really paid off.

We hope that Oxford United can push for promotion. This kit is certainly worthy of the fans’ appreciation and it will look great running up and down the Kassam Stadium.
