Benfica Have Revealed Their 2018/19 Home and Away Kits
Portugal. The country that sits just West of Spain are out of the World Cup. They crashed out in a 2-1 defeat to Uruguay leaving the competition wide open (to teams like Brazil, France or Belgium). While crashing out of a huge competition can be tough (this author is English so knows the pain in plenty), it gives Portuguese football fans the chance to focus on the upcoming season. Portugal has a famously competitive league – the Primeira Liga. Although it is competitive, the top four teams finished 24 points above the fifth-place team. This seems to be the case with so many leagues, but it can’t be helped. One of these top tier, titan teams is Benfica, a team that finished in second place.
S.L Benfica are managed by Rui Vitoria at the Estadio da Luz. The club is already being linked to several players in the transfer window. They will want to get the edge over their opponents and take the title for themselves.
While we’ll have to wait and see what kind of things Benfica pull out of their 2018/19 footballing bag of tricks, the club have teamed up with Adidas to create a home and away kit that are both simple, but incredibly well designed.
We, like much of the footballing community, love the latest club kits, but what do you think? Are they a little too simple?
The home kit is red. On the chest sits the club’s crest, Adidas’ logo and Benfica’s main sponsor: Fly Emirates. At the front of the neckline is a semi-classic collar with a single button to allow for extra ventilation if required.
Across the shoulders Adidas have put their trademark upon the kit. Three stripes run across the shoulders and up to the neckline, giving the kit a more complete look.
The away kit is white. It features grey, horizontal lines running across the chest and three black Adidas lines across the shoulders. To finish this stunning away kit off, Adidas have opted for a red lining to the inside of the neckline. This adds a touch of colour, but not enough to detract from the black and white colour scheme.
Once this World Cup blows over, we’ll be turning out attention to clubs like Benfica. Teams that are pushing for the title after just missing out in their 2017/18 season.
