FC Basel Reveal Their 2018/19 Home Kit by Adidas
FC Basel. There are few clubs that sound more like a herb than this one. They compete at the top of Swiss football, playing against teams like FC Zurich and Young Boys each week. In their 2017/18 campaign FC Basel finished in second place with 69 points. While it might not be the biggest league in the world, this is still an excellent achievement. The club plays at St. Jakob-Park stadium and is headed up by manager Raphael Wicky. They’ve been relatively active in the transfer window and will hope that this time next year, they will have lifted the league trophy.
To help them achieve this success, FC Basel have teamed up with Adidas to create a home kit that is simple and stunning. We at UK Soccer Shop always love these two concepts and furthermore, it’s a half and half kit.
Split down the middle with a vertical, invisible line, the kit is blue on one half and red on the other. In the blue section, fans will see the club’s crest and in the red, Nike’s infamous Swoosh.
The neckline is simple, it is tapered with white and Adidas’ trademark stripes feature across the top of the shoulders. While we’ve seen plenty of kits with complex patterns, it is refreshing to see a jersey that is uncluttered and straight-forward.
The neckline ditches any idea of a classic collar, instead, opting for a pointed, modern design that ensures this kit isn’t over complicated.
While no photos have been released of the back of the kit, the photo suggests that the colours are reversed on the back of the jersey.
So far, fans have been largely positive. On the whole, their feedback has been that they miss the collar, however it is a simple kit that retains the club’s synonymous style.
