New Football Kits

Is Blackburn Rovers’ 2018/19 Home Kit Dominated by Their Sponsor?

We just showed you Newcastle United’s home kit. We’ve also shown their away kit. What do both both Newcastle and Blackburn Rovers have in common? Well Alan Shearer played for both. For four consecutive years, before playing for the Magpies, Alan Shearer was the top scorer for Blackburn Rovers.  Blackburn Rovers have just broken back into the Championship and Tony Mowbray will be wanting it to be the first of many. Furthermore, he may hope that his club can seriously compete for the top spots. Can you blame him? The club were in the top flight of English football only seven years ago.

To help them on their journey up the Championship league table, the club have teamed up with Umbro to create a bright kit that has been mostly received by fans. However it does have one element that they aren’t 100% sure on.

When clubs craft a light kit, using colours like white and sky blue, they use a small amount of dark colouring to contrast the lighter shades. Keep that in mind.

The kit is half white and half sky blue. This is a new design that ditches the dark blue. Perhaps the club want to show that they have a bright future? Who knows?

Around the bottom of the sleeves is tapering that is synonymous with Umbro’s 2018/19 designs. It features interlocking Umbro logos and we have seen this with several kits this season.

The elephant in the room, however, is the sponsor: 10 Bet. The company has a 3/5 rating on Trust Pilot and their logo appears like a large ink spillage on what is otherwise a lovely-looking kit.

One fan described the jarring sponsor as “like a zit on a pretty woman’s face”. Positively poetic.

While it does stand out, it could have been much worse.

We really like the kit’s design, if you can forgive the dominating sponsor on the front.
