AS Roma Reveal Their 2018/19 Third Kit from Nike
Here at UK Soccer Shop we love football kits that do something different. Whether that’s the orange of Millwall’s third kit or the exciting pattern that we saw on the Nigerian kit. Today we want to bring you a football kit that combines both dynamic, interesting pattern, with bright, eye-catching colour. It’s AS Roma’s third kit. Full of reflective heritage, Nike have created a kit that fans seem to love. Furthermore, it’s perhaps hoped that the new kit can push them up the table. Currently sat in 9th place, Eusebio Di Francesco will want to see his team competing with teams like Juventus. Especially with the arrival of Christiano Ronaldo into the league.
Roma’s third kit is gold. Its colouring is close to orange which allows the club’s crest to stand out prominently. Furthermore, Nike’s Swoosh and AS Roma’s main sponsor also sit on top of this gold blank canvas.
The interesting aspect of this kit design is the pattern that appears on the front. There features a number of aerial images of Roma. From its birth in the Roman era, also reflected by the club’s crest, to the modern city we see today.
About the kit, Pete Hoppins, senior director of kit design had this to say:
“For 2018-19, our third kits have been exploring the cities these clubs represent. In the case of Rome, what really makes it special is this long and colorful history, full of myth and legend.”
The neckline is a simple one. There is no built-up collar and furthermore, it remains untapered. Across the shoulders runs Nike’s 2018/19 digital pattern. Finally, the nape of the kit has a burgundy stripe. This simple design decision adds character to the already excellent kit. While the third kit is one not often seen on the pitch, we know that fans will want to see more of this one.
