So when we were asked whether we’d like to take a look at Paris Saint-Germain’s latest Champions’ League offering, we couldn’t say no. In fact, we returned the question with an enquiry as to whether the Pope had a balcony. We were swiftly told to get on with it.
Ordinarily, when kit tops are designed, they’re created by a select few companies. With the exception of some smaller or more international designers, it often seems to be the same names coming up time and time again. Today, we saw that Paris Saint-Germain’s latest third kit, the one to be used in the Champions’ League has been designed by Jordan. No, not some bloke called Jordan, but the company with a logo almost as infamous as the Nike Swoosh. Sitting under the Nike umbrella, Jordan is responsible for crafting (would you believe it) basketball apparel, predominantly basketball shoes. They have more bounce and better ankle support than your average trainer.
So how did they do when creating PSG’s Champions’ League kit?
Well, to be straight-forward about it, they took the existing third kit and added a white line down it. The kit colouring is charcoal. As mentioned, a patterned white stripe runs straight up the centre. The stripe only break for the club’s main sponsor. On the nape of the jersey is a white stripe between two red ones and the neckline is a simple one.
Finally, it is worth mentioning the promotional photographs. One of which is Neymar about to throw a football supposedly into a basketball hoop. To give the photograph credit, the lighting highlights the pattern held within the white stripe that seems essential to this third kit.
