Brighton & Hove Albion 2016/17 Home Kit Launched

Brighton have released their 2016/17 home kit, soon after they unveiled a stylish away kit for next season.

The Championship side are ready to make another promotion challenge next season, hoping to avoid a repeat of last season’s play-off heartbreak.

First worn in 1904, the blue and white stripes the Seagulls fans have come to expect are still but Nike has added a twist to the design. Don’t worry – it isn’t a return of the ‘Tesco carrier bag’ kit!

This is the kit Brighton will wear for home games next season:

As we promised, it is blue and white stripes, evenly spaced on the front of the shirt’s body and sleeves.

It’s a simple, tradtioinal football kit design template. Not contentious, it leads into a round neck collar. Predominantly blue, there is a break when it reverts to the white of the central stripe.

And then you get to see the back of the shirt.brighton-16-17-kit-back

It is the bizarrest thing: plain white with no pattern or trim to interfere, aside from the sponsor logo below the neckline. Great for player identification purposes with the name and number sure to stand out but a twist few would expect on a striped shirt.

It saves on blue dye, I suppose, but odd. And I’m not sure it works either.
