The shirt is a bespoke design for Darmstadt.

The angular hoops and counter-gradiented sash, are angled specifically at 18° and 98° in reference to the year the club was formed. The colour scheme takes the club’s traditional colours and reworks them in an outrageous pattern.

Worn during the final Bundesliga match of last season, the black lines separate the angular blue with starts in dark navy and lightens until it reaches a light royal shade. This pattern repeats five times down the front and back of the body of the shirt.

The sleeves are all royal blue, giving the impression that it is the dominant colour of the shirt. The collar, with its curved square neckline, shirt cuffs and bottom hemline, are all in black. Inside the collar, the phrase, “Wir Lilien. Aus Tradition anders.” is printed, meaning, “We are the Lillies. Traditionally different.”

Sponsor, club and manufacturer trim are all in white.

On the reverse, in white letters, the club’s nickname, “Lillen”, features centrally below the neckline.

The shorts and socks are based on the traditional colours of white, featuring just the club’s Fleur de Lys badge as the only adornment.

It’s certainly a unique design from the club was previously most notable for employing Jugen Sparwasser as its manager. Sparwasser scored the only goal of the game as East Germany beat hosts, West Germany, in the 1974 World Cup, the only time the pair met in a competitive match.
