You Might Not Like These Trainers

We’re going to be honest with you here. Quite straight-up, because, after all, honesty is the best policy. We aren’t quite sure what we think about these trainers. After showcasing the simply stunning Umbro Sala Ligas in white, we were singing Umbro’s praises and starting a new cult. However, well, we’ll let you make your mind up about these: the Umbro Chaleira Leagues in plum and pink. These indoor trainers have a nice design, don’t get us wrong. The mesh fabric featuring prominently means that breathability is ensured and the clearly defined lines make for a nicely shaped trainer. It’s just the colouring.

It could be argued, by some (certainly not us, even for a second), that pink and purple should never seen next to each other. Clashing colours can really be…icky. We do however recognise that interior designers love clashing colours as it gives a property more character, however with this trainer, we’re not entirely convinced.

There is one redeeming quality which you might have spotted, a design that we quite like is the fading from the deep purple at the toe of the shoe to hot pink towards the heel. This blend really does work quite nicely and would look fabulous, just if not this colouring (we’ll try not to obsess too much more).

The angle that we think looks fantastic is looking straight down onto the shoe, as if wearing it. This angle really nicely shows the highlight lines running along the side of the trainer and demonstrates a nice shape.

But wait, here comes a contradiction: the purple does look quite good with pink laces. The only thing we aren’t so keen on is using both of these colours on the body of the shoe itself.

If you do love pink and purple, this trainer is certainly for you. Trainers come down to taste and if we all loved the same ones the world would be a very dull place. The sole it is worth pointing out, is ergonomically comfortable and scientifically designed to ensure quality.

It is a good trainer, Umbro are a quality brand, the colouring just isn’t quite our cup of tea.
