Slovakia are relatively new
members of European football, with the nation being formed after the separation
of Czechoslovakia in 1993. Despite having previously supplied a number of
players to the combined state, since the breakup, Slovakia have been
overshadowed by their rivals, having struggled to qualify for major tournament
finals while the Czech Republic were for many years one of the most exciting
nations to watch.
Their first visit to a major
tournament came at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Despite having picked up
only one point from their opening two fixtures, a shock victory over reigning
World champions Italy was enough to take them through to the knockout stages,
where they were eliminated by The Netherlands. At Euro 2016, Slovakia held
England to a 0-0 draw but this was not enough to take them through and they
were eliminated at the group stage.

Slovakian Home & Away Kits
When the nation was formed in
1993, they wore blue home shirts, however they have subsequently changed to a
white home shirt. Much like with Greece, who also rotate between home and away
shirts, we sell similar amounts of home & away shirts with supporters
preferring different colours.
The shirts are worn with
contrasting shorts and same colour socks, providing a slick look which stands
out and represents the colours of the national flag, which has proved the
inspiration for the colour scheme of the Slovakian soccer jerseys.
Some of Slovakia’s most notable
players in recent years were ex-Rangers and Manchester City winger Vladimir
Weiss – whose father also coached the national team – and Martin Harnik.
The Slovakian jerseys were
manufactured by Puma for many years, but in 2016 the Slovakian FA announced
that they had terminated the deal – due to run until 2026 – and signed a
contract to return to Nike, who were the previous sponsors of the national
team.
The contract with Nike has led to
an increase in the demand for the jerseys as Nike release a wider range of
merchandise, such as shorts, socks and training kit.
