Inter Milan Football Kit
Internazionale – commonly
referred to as Inter Milan – are one of Italy’s most successful football clubs
with 18 Serie A titles to their name. Sharing the Giuseppe Meazza San Siro
stadium with city rivals AC, Inter have won three European Cups and their
famous black and blue striped home shirt has been worn by many of the best
players of all time including Wesley Sneijder, Dennis Bergkamp, Samuel Eto’o,
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Javier Zanetti and Ronaldo.
Inter were formed in 1908 after a
split with the Milan Cricket and Football Club, who are now known as AC Milan.
Unhappy with the dominance of Italians in the side, a group of Italian and
Swiss business man formed the new club which adopted a welcoming policy to
foreign players.
Inter Milan Home Shirt
Following the formation of
Internazionale, the club adopted a blue in black striped home shirt in contrast
to the red and black of rivals AC Milan. The kits have earned the club the nick
name ‘Nerazzurri’ which means blue and black, with the black representing the
night and the blue the sky. The shirts are worn with black shorts and black
socks to complete the Inter Milan Home Kit.
During the period of fascist
regime, Inter were merged with a local club as the ruling party was uneasy with
their international outlook. Known as Ambrosiana, the flag of Milan replaced
the traditional black and blue however at the end of World War II and the end
of fascism, Inter re-adopted their name and black and blue home jersey.
Inter Milan Away Shirt
The away jersey is normally
white, accompanied by white shorts and socks however they have also adopted a
red away shirt in recent years. However, with the invention of third kits,
which have seen all sorts of variations from yellow to light blue, white is the
most popular choice of away kit. These often feature a red cross in the middle
of the jersey which replicates the flag of the city of Milan, or a black and
blue sash or stripes across the chest in keeping with the colours of the home
shirt.
In keeping with Italian football
tradition where animals are also used to represent football clubs, Inter are
associated with the grass snake, known as Serpente.
The 2010-2011 Inter Milan Away Shirt featured the serpent heavily as part of
the design and was one of our bestselling Inter Milan Away Kits of all time.
Inter Milan Shirt History
Throughout their history, Inter
have partnered with many different kit suppliers, including Puma, MecSport, Le
Coq Sportif, Uhlsport and Umbro. They are most commonly associated with Nike,
however, who have held a long standing partnership with the Italian clubs.
The most notable sponsor of
Internazionale is Pirelli, whose logo is emblazoned on the Inter jerseys.
Inter Milan Club Crest
The original Internazionale logo
was designed by a painter called Giorgio Muggiani, who was also one of the
primary founders of the football club. Incorporating the letters FCIM, the core
elements of the design remained consistent even after numerous modifications
took place throughout their history.
Inter Milan Training Kit
Such is the huge demand for Inter
Milan merchandise that the range of clothing available extends far beyond the
