Genoa Football Kit
Despite no longer being a
heavyweight, Genoa are actually one of the most successful clubs in Italian
football. Founded in 1897, they were one of the most dominant clubs in the
early era and had won 9 Serie A titles by 1924, finishing runners up on a
further four occasions. However, since then they have been unable to build on
that success and their aspirations now are limited to aiming for mid-table in
Serie A, while yo-yoing between Serie A.
Based in Genoa and playing at the
Stadio Luigi Ferraris, which has been their home since 1911, Genoa have a
bitter rivalry with Sampdoria, with whom they share their stadium.
The club’s full name is Genoa Cricket and Football Club and the
club badge is based on the city’s coat of arms which features the St George’s
Cross.
Genoa Home & Away Shirt
Genoa’s origins are from Britain
and their first ever kit was actually modelled on the colours of the English
national team. In 1899, they wore white and blue stripes, with the blue being
chosen to represent the sea as Genoa is a port city. It was in 1901 that they
adopted the famous red and blue halves shirt, a colour scheme shared with
fellow Serie A clubs Bologna and Cagliari.
Known as the rossoblu, the core design of the Genoa home jersey has remained
relatively consistent throughout the years while the club have partnered with a
number of kit manufacturers including Errea, Asics and Lotto.
The away shirt is traditionally
white, which reflects the very initial Genoa kits. In recent years, a third
jersey has been available for sale for use in the Coppa Italia and is generally
navy in colour.
Genoa shirts are relatively
modest sellers and do not feature on our bestselling Serie A shirts list.
However, it remains a popular jersey with collectors and is a great shirt to
add to any collection as a result and proud history of the club.
Each year, we order in the home,
away and third jerseys which are available to buy in adult sizes, although
stocks are always limited and it is recommended to order as quickly as possible
as we are unable to get more stock once the initial batch has been sold.
Where possible, we also bring in
a range of Genoa training kit. Items which we have had available in the past
have included polo shirts, tracksuits, t-shirts and training jerseys.
