Palermo Football Kit

With their distinctive pink kits, Palermo’s home shirt is one of the most instantly recognisable soccer jerseys in Italian football. Palermo currently play their football in Italy's top division Serie A. The club was formed in 1900 (although this is disputed) but it wasn't until 1987, the club settled on the name 'Unione Sportiva Citta Di Palermo' or as we refer to it today, Palermo. Their home ground is 'Stadio Renzo Barbaro' and they play their football on the island of Sicily in the south of Italy.

Palermo's most successful years came in the early 2000's after a takeover from Maurizio Zamparini. Within 2 years, the club would be crowned Serie B champions securing promotion to the top flight of Italian football for the first time in 30 years. The club would make an instant impact finishing 6th upon their return partially due to the 20 goals from Luca Toni, a Serie A record at the time. During this period, sales of Palermo football shirts were extremely strong and although demand has dipped over time, the novelty value of the pink jerseys mean Palermo shirts have always proved popular.

The following season would see the club reach the last 16 of the UEFA Cup and the semi-final of Coppa Italia. Despite an 8th place finish in the league, the club would be handed a European spot after the Italian Match fixing scandal.

Italian football would quickly recover from the disappointment of the match fixing scandal winning the World Cup in 2006 and Palermo were major contributors to that success having 4 players part of the winning squad.

Palermo started to struggle after this and eventually in 2013, the club would be relegated back to Serie B. Gennaro Gattuso, an Italian legend, was trusted with trying to guide the team back to the 'promise land' but he made a bad start and was sacked within months making him the 28th manager to be sacked in just 11 years! However, this proved to be a masterstroke as a new manager came in and guided the club straight back to Serie A.

Palermo Pink Home Shirt

For the first few years of their existence, Palermo's official club colours were red and blue. However, in 1907, it would be decided after a letter from one of its founding member that the colours would be changed to pink and black. In the letter, written by Guiseppe Airoldi, he refers to the colours as both 'sad and 'sweet' as results at that time were a little up and down. Pink and Black has remained the club colours until this day apart from a period just before the second world war where the club played in red and yellow.

Palermo have had as many managers as kit sponsors and manufacturers! Lotto designed the kit between 2000 and 2010 before Legea and Puma had a brief spell before Joma took over as the new kit manufacturer. In 2015-2016, Palermo did not have a shirt sponsor, but have had previous relationships with Eurobet, Betshop and Burger King.
